Che Fico, which has already established a restaurant and a market in the Springline development, recently opened a gelateria. The gelateria offers an authentic taste of Italy in Menlo Park with fun flavors in three sizes. A single scoop costs $5.99, a double costs $7.99, and a triple is $9.99. Homemade cream and sprinkles cost an extra $1.
Pistachio: 8/10
This classic flavor is a staple at Che Fico’s gelateria. While not my personal favorite, it’s a good choice for those who do not have a big sweet tooth and has a prominent flavor and smooth consistency.
Cookies and Cream: 10/10
A flavor with which you can never go wrong, Che Fico’s version is exactly how it should be: the perfect ratio of crunchy little chunks of cookie to smooth ice cream. It has something for everyone, whether it be the crunch, the ice cream, or the nostalgic flavor of cookies and milk.
Chocolate Sorbeto: 6/10
This flavor is more on the bitter side and thicker in consistency than the gelateria’s other flavors. A strong hot chocolate-like flavor makes this a good treat for cooler weather.
Strawberry: 9/10
This summery, sweet gelato is a classic you can’t go wrong with. Strawberry pairs perfectly with a chocolate flavor like gianduja or chocolate sorbet. While Che Fico’s menu changes flavors frequently, strawberry is a consistent standout.
Cappuccino: 7/10
This is for the caffeine addicts. While not a go-to, it stunningly captures the bitter and strong taste of coffee. The lack of sweetness makes it an atypical dessert choice, but those who love a daily coffee—or two—will love it.
Salted Caramel: 7/10
This flavor is more sweet than salty. However, it still makes for a delicious dessert.
Gianduja: 10/10
Gianduja is an Italian chocolate confection with at least 30% hazelnut paste—stronger than Nutella. With the best hazelnut and chocolate blend, this flavor is perfect for straight-out-of-the-jar Nutella lovers. It pairs well with fruity flavors like strawberry.
Blackberry: 10/10
This newer addition to the menu is the perfect mix of blackberry and creamy flavors. It’s sweet, unconventional, smooth, and goes well with any other scoops.
Passion Fruit: 9/10
The perfect gelato for a summer day, this tart and sweet gelato tastes just like real fruit. This flavor is one of my favorites. It’s sour, closely resembles the actual fruit, and is perfect for a hot day. It goes well with a less fruity flavor like chocolate, mint chip, or vanilla.
