Families flocked to the Belle Haven Community Campus for a festive “Photos with Santa” event filled with holiday activities and tasty food on Saturday, Dec. 14. This celebration featured seven unique rooms, each encompassing its own holiday activity, from crafts to cookie decorating.
“They have this fun paper wreath where once the kids get a stamp at every station, they get a goodie bag, so it’s really fun for them to collect all the stamps,” attendee Georgia Walton said.
Downstairs, attendees participated in a buffet, a picture-taking station with Santa, a Christmas book read aloud, and a cookie decorating station. Upstairs led to a game room, an arts and crafts set up, and a table filled with temporary tattoos for kids to use.
“My kids especially look forward to decorating cookies, meeting with Santa, seeing friends from school, and being around the community. There’s just so much to do for the kids, and it’s not too overwhelming,” attendee Netta Shastari said.
Families filled the buffet room while chatting, laughing, and eating. This celebration is a staple of the surrounding community. “We come year after year, this is maybe our ninth year now,” attendee Sarah Ordaz said.
“I know sometimes it’s hard for families to spend quality time together and I think this really allows them to,” volunteer Lina DeSantiago said. “It’s a lot of things that a lot of families don’t get, and it’s really nice that it’s all under one roof here.”
