Despite the gloomy and windy weather, the Green was vibrant as hundreds of students checked out 50 of M-A’s clubs this Wednesday during Club Rush. This semester’s Club Rush was noticeably less full, compared to the 110 that were present last semester. Ranging from the newly formed Green Energy Club to the adored Crafts Club, a variety of student organizations participated to recruit new members and showcase their diverse interests.
“This Club Rush, we had half the amount of clubs. We were able to give every club their own table and we were able to see a little more of every club,” junior and club coordinator Millo Skhiri said. “It was a little hectic at first, but in the end, it was very rewarding.”
Rubik’s Cube Club

Whether you’re a passionate speedcuber or someone wanting to solve a Rubik’s cube for the first time, the Rubik’s Cube Club is a great place for anyone involved in the hobby. “It’s a very cool and impressive feat to accomplish,” freshman and co-president Sam Mitch said. “Anyone who wants to learn to solve a Rubik’s Cube can come in. We have competitions every now and then to determine who’s the best.” The Rubik’s Cube Club meets in P-3 every day.
Physics Club

For anyone needing help in a physics class or just trying to understand the world around them, the Physics Club in S-10 is the place to be. The Physics Club meets every Friday to discuss physics concepts and use them in real-world situations. “Some topics we’ve learned about this year include lasers, gyroscopes, sound perception, and the speed of light,” senior and co-president Will Knox said. “It’s a really cool way to get excited about physics and see how you can see it work in your everyday life.”
Tennis Club

The Tennis Club is a perfect opportunity to connect with other tennis players and get into the sport. “For now, we’re strictly hitting with other people. However, we’re thinking of expanding,” sophomore and club president Lawrence Chao said. “We could expand to things like UTR tournaments, racket care services, racket rentals, and even field trips to watch tournaments.” The Tennis Club meets in B-2 on Thursdays.
German Culture Club

Wanting to grow German culture & tradition at M-A, siblings Noah and Lily Jacobi started the German Culture Club. “I’ve never heard of another German club at the school,” junior Noah Jacobi said. “We just have fun, eat food, and sometimes make cookies during the winter.” The club also does crafts, plays trivia, and has presentations about German culture. The German Culture Club meets in E-22 every other Friday.
Green Energy Club

Sophomore Josie McGuire started the Green Energy Club through her passion for chemical engineering and helping the environment. “The aim of this club is to educate people on chemical engineering, and the end goal is to create products using chemical engineering in order to help the environment,” McGuire said. The club meets in F-13 on Wednesdays every week.
Crafts Club

Two years ago, senior Claire B. Chang started the Crafts Club, wanting to teach people how to crochet. Since then, the club’s activities have expanded. “Every other Tuesday, we meet and learn a new craft. We’ve done crochet, we’ve done embroidery, and most recently, we painted tote bags,” Chang said. “We hope to create a really friendly and safe community for people to learn crafts. We just want to really bring out peoples’ creative sides.” The Crafts Club meets in C-15 every other Tuesday.
