Track and Field Team Sprint for Success on Senior Night

The track and field team hosted the final PAL regular season meet against Hillsdale and Westmoor on Wednesday afternoon. Runners achieved over 90 personal records in the meet.

Before the meet, the team’s 22 seniors were celebrated with posters and a ceremony. “Seeing all the support and love during senior night was amazing,” senior Alex Petry said. “I have been running with some of my friends all four years, and I will always look back on track as some of the best times of my life.”

The girls won against both Hillsdale and Westmoor. Senior Sara Nordlund won the 100M, 300M, and 400M hurdles, and won the 4x100M relay along with juniors Skylar Hodges and Gabriella Jansen-Olliges, and freshman Diya Mahadevan.

Fellow Bears found their way to first place, including freshman Harper Krefetz in the 800M, junior Louisa Pflaum in the 1600M, freshman Caroline Pflaum in the 3200M, and junior Katie Cueva in the pole vault.

On the boys’ end, senior Alex Petry won the 400M and placed second in the 200M. The Bears swept the podium in the 800M, with senior John Cutler taking first, followed by juniors Cason Mitchell and Aidan Sharp, respectively. Sophomore Calvin Blandford’s attained second place in the 3200M, and numerous boys took third place in their respective events: junior JT Roeder in the 100M, junior Cameron Liebert in the pole vault, and senior Joshua Pfistner in the long jump.

The Bears will return to the track on May 10th for the PAL finals at 10 a.m.
