Amid the sea of typical black backpacks that dominate the hallways, colorful children’s backpacks can be spotted slung across the shoulders of seniors. In this classic trend, seniors revisit the past by donning children’s backpacks for their last year of high school.

Senior Kenzie Evans decided to revisit the past with an Ariel-themed bag. Kenzie picked out this theme to honor her Ariel backpack from preschool. “I tried to resemble that, because it was my first year ever going to school, and now is it my last year,” Evans said.

Senior Vai Takitaki sports a shiny, pink Hello Kitty backpack. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved Hello Kitty,” Takitaki said. Since it’s the seniors’ time to show off their new backpacks, Takitaki picked out the one that she felt expressed her the best.

Senior Taelyn Martin has chosen a backpack featuring the video game character Shadow. Since Shadow is Martin’s favorite character from Sonic and Shadow, she decided to rock him for her last year. “I wanted something unique,” Martin said.

Senior Ana Colorado spontaneously bought a Bluey backpack a few days before school started. Colorado wasn’t planning to participate in the trend until her friend persuaded her. “This is my last year being considered a kid, so I just wanted to enjoy that last bit of childhood I have,” Colorado said.

Senior Katie Maldonado chose a Minnie Mouse backpack for her last year. She chose this backpack out of her love for Disney. “I decided to do the trend because it’s my last year, it’s a bittersweet feeling,” Maldonado said.
