Leadership hosted its annual Homecoming dance in Ayers Gym on Saturday night. Still energized from Friday’s Homecoming football game, students filled the dance floor in an assortment of suits and dresses on the dance floor.
The theme for this year’s Homecoming dance was the Garden of Greece, brought to life by floral overhangs, flashing lights, and popular music. The DJ executed a great performance, utilizing transitions, timing music with lights, and giving the audience a chance to scream the lyrics in an enthusiastic manner.
“It was very surprising,” freshman Marilyn Garcia said. ”I didn’t expect so many people to be so happy.”

As the night progressed, students’ energy continued. The DJ played a variety of songs, from classics like “Gangnam Style” by Psy to pop songs like “Fe!n” by Travis Scott. “It depends on what songs they are playing, but there are some times when it’s hype,” freshman Marcelino Elmonte said.
Students laughed, sang, and danced to their favorite songs, forming a big circle in the middle of the gym where people showed off their best moves.

Water and donut holes served as free concessions for Bears to rest and recharge from the loud, crowded environment.
The dance’s momentum slowly reached its low and the DJ closed things out with softer tracks like “Love” by Keyshia Cole.
“The significance of Homecoming is the spirit,” sophomore Jonny La Cava said. ”You know, to bring people together.”
