Located in downtown Palo Alto, Square Pie Guys brings Detroit-style pizza to the Bay Area. After opening just last year, this viral pizza joint lives up to the hype, with an array of options from pizza to wings to square-shaped desserts. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm, allowing people to enjoy both fresh pizza and an inviting environment.
Plain Wings ($15): 4/10

The plain wings are underwhelming at best. The outside is crispy, and the meat is tender, but the lack of flavor sticks out like a sore thumb, bringing down the rating. Instead of the plain wings, one should opt for the flavored wings. While the wings are bland, the carrot sticks taste garden-fresh, and the ranch dressing is flavorful.
Fries ($6.50): 6/10

Steamy and fresh, these fries are a pleasant addition to a delicious meal. Paired with ketchup and doused in salt and pepper, these are your classic, simple fries. They’re a great choice for an appetizer.
Half Slice of Big Von ($13): 8/10

Piping hot, this pizza comes topped with sausage, pepperoni, and hot honey. The combination of crispy pepperoni and honey is the perfect mix of sweet and salty. Along with those already delicious flavors, the addition of tender sausage is delectable, and stringy cheese makes for the perfect cheese pull. The hot honey’s sweetness is a little intense, giving a slight edge to the pepperoni pizza. Overall, this pizza is still a must-try.
Half Slice of The Pepperoni ($13): 9/10

The half slice of the pepperoni pizza is the perfect size to split between two people. It comes out hot, covered with exactly 24 pepperoni, just as promised. With stretchy cheese and a hard crust, the Detroit-style pizza is perfectly soft and crunchy. The tomato sauce adds a nice tangy flavor to the pizza, but is quickly buried underneath the layers of cheese and salty pepperoni.
GF Square Cookie ($9): 9/10

The cookie is delivered fresh out of the oven, doused in white chocolate, and sprinkled with chocolate shavings. Though it’s more like a brownie than a cookie, this dessert melts with its soft and gooey inside. Biting into the crunchy outside, the cookie is an immediate favorite from the menu. Its perfect texture and excessively sweet flavor quickly becomes addicting. However, the size of the cookie is a bit much for only two people, and the sugar overpowers the other elements in the dessert.
