Boys Volleyball Team Fundraises for Their Furry Friends

The boys volleyball team raised over $1,200 to donate to the Pets in Need program for their fundraiser in April.

Pets in Need is a local organization providing a variety of services for cats and dogs in their area. The team placed donation bins by the gym during their home matches to collect gently used or new pet supplies, or monetary contributions through a virtual live link.

On top of all the money raised, the program also had help through physical donations and received 24 towels, ten blankets, two cat beds, one dog bed, a scratcher, cat and dog food, and a pet carrier.

Junior Owen Tokic led the fundraising effort. He said, “I did the fundraising to support families who needed supplies for fostering kittens, puppies, or other pets. What was really impressive was the team effort and how the community collectively banded together to raise so much.”

Junior setter and captain Peter Chriss said, “It was so great to be able to engage with the community and give back. Volleyball is a huge part of all of our lives, and we’re all so grateful for it. It was nice to be able to extend that gratitude back to our furry friends.”

Senior outside hitter and captain Andrew Bernardicou said, “It was inspiring to come together as a team and unite under a common effort to fundraise for Pets in Need. I am especially passionate about animals, so being able to help those in need alongside my life-long teammates was touching.”
