On Saturday night, the boy’s basketball team crushed the Paly Vikings, winning by a final score of 57-32. The Bears started with a nine-point lead at halftime and came out even stronger, scoring seventeen points in the third quarter, eight more than the Vikings. Aggressive defense from senior Matt Macleod and a basket with a layup from junior Johno Price late in the game increased the lead further. The Vikings only managed to score two points the entire quarter, as the Bears put up an unbreakable defense.
The Bears dominated the court with seniors Ryan Anderson and Jalen Williams on the attack and Douglas Adams III’s impeccable rebounds.
Leading scorer senior Connor Cadigan said, “I would definitely say the turning point was right after halftime when our starting five came out with hot defense.”
The Bears won their fourth straight game, boosting their record to 7-4.
Cadigan also said, “We have started to learn how to play together on the offensive end but especially on the defensive side.”
Macleod emphasized the Bears’ teamwork when he said, “We really played together, and there wasn’t much selfishness on the court.” Macleod believes the game is a turning point for the season. He said, “After a slow start, we are starting to get some mojo, and our team is coming together.”
The Bears hope to continue their five-game winning streak on Wednesday as they face off against Aragon.
