Boys Lacrosse Falls to SHP on Senior Night

M-A’s boys lacrosse team hosted crosstown rival Sacred Heart Prep on Thursday, May 5, the Bears’ senior night. The Gators controlled the game from start to finish, winning 2-16.

Within the first four minutes of play, Sacred Heart fired in three goals to gain a quick 3-0 lead. M-A head coach Steven Kryger called a timeout to regroup the Bears. M-A continued to struggle to stop the Gators as they marched down the field to score three more consecutive goals in four minutes for a 0-6 lead. M-A freshman Jack Hansen made the Bears’ first goal of the game.

By the end of the first half, M-A trailed the Gators 1-11. During the second half, the Bears came out with much more intensity and energy. This resulted in more shots on goal for the Bears because they had possession of the ball more frequently. Junior Jack Wolfe drove in for a goal with 1:58 left in the third quarter. However, the Bears were finished with their shots for the rest of the game, loosing 2-16.

The Bears will proceed to the Peninsula Athletic League (PAL) playoffs with a third place seed. Their first post-season game is Monday, May 9 at M-A at 7 p.m. against Carlmont High School. Be sure to come out and support the team as they make their bid for the 2016 PAL Champion Title!
