The cheer and dance teams honored seniors at Friday evening’s basketball games. Before their halftime performances, each senior walked alongside their family and friends through an aisle of teammates.
Dance team’s 12 seniors received flowers and posters, and they performed in T-shirts signed by their teammates at both varsity games. “I got to walk through and hang out with both JV and varsity. It’s really special to have both teams here,” senior dancer and officer Kaitlyn Harding said.

“We assigned work to all the non-seniors on varsity,” junior dancer Bailey Lanier*, who helped organize the celebration, said. “We all made posters just so we could make sure that every single senior had a cute poster that they could use as a keepsake after the game.”
“It felt very surreal, because I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. I feel like I’m still a freshman,” senior dancer Antonia Mille said.

“They’re some of my best friends in the whole world. They’re really the spirit of the dance team,” Lanier added.
“All four years of my high school career I’ve been dancing, and now I’m an officer and I get to choreograph dances. To have that role is really special because it shows how much hard work I put into this program and dance in general,” Harding said.
Cheer team’s senior ceremony took place during the boys varsity halftime, celebrating cheer captain and only senior Tatiola Sobomehin* with a personalized teddy bear and performance that highlighted her.

“She’s just such a positive spirit and she cares so much about the team,” junior cheerleader Gabi Jansen said of Sobomehin. “I love her so much, and I’m so sad to see her go.”
“I felt very much appreciated and supported, and I’m so thankful to my M-A community for coming out to support all of our seniors,” Sobomehin said.
