The M-A girls varsity soccer team had another strong season this year, finishing their campaign with 11 wins, six losses, and four ties.
Led by first-year varsity coach Jason Luce, the Bears started the season off strong, winning the Burlingame Tournament with victories over Sequoia, Woodside Priory, and Christopher.
The squad finished fourth in the always competitive PAL-Bay Division, featuring a 6-0 win against Half Moon Bay, and a combined 12-0 score in the two games against San Mateo.
In the first round of CCS, the seventh-seeded Bears dominated Alisal, winning the match 4-0 to advance and play Palo Alto. In their match against the Vikings, the Bears held their ground and had many offensive chances, but were on the wrong side of the 1-0 scoreline.
In terms of league recognition, PAL coaches voted junior Sarah McLeod Midfielder of the Year. McLeod and senior Annie Harrier were awarded PAL All League First Team, and senior Taryn Harpell and freshman Josephine Cotto were included in the PAL All League Second Team. Senior Jacqueline Foody and junior Kasey Love were given PAL Honorable Mentions.
With most of their starters returning, the Bears are poised to be a powerful force next season.
