Girls Volleyball Defeats Rival Aragon

In a bitter fight to the end, the girls varsity volleyball team beat Aragon, their main rival, 3-1 on Thursday. Senior Natalie Grover said she thought the key to their win was the energy. “The whole gym was excited and energetic…. We worked to run after every ball and celebrate every point.”

The Bear’s defense proved very strong, with several blocks. Key defensive players included senior Marit Hoyem, junior Semaijah Ix-Siu, and senior Mariah Grover. On the offensive side, Natalie Grover finished the game with 16 kills and Junior Emma Spindt had 14 kills. In an epic point which brought the bears back from a 10 point deficit, senior Bella Shermis dove to save the ball from a kill and was able to get it to Natalie Grover, who spiked it in a kill point for the bears.

Looking towards the future Natalie Grover went on to say that “winning CCS and Pal are definitely goals for our team, but other teams in the league have the same goal and tons of talent, so we will have to fight for it.”

The girls huddle between sets with head coach Jairo Sierra.

This game brought the bears’ overall record to 11-2.
