M-A Chronicle Awarded with Prestigious Journalism Honor

The National Scholastic Press Association honored the M-A Chronicle on April 26 as one of thirteen recipients of the 2025 Online Pacemaker Award, one of the highest honors in high school journalism.

“We’ve continuously worked to perfect our grammatical standards, polish our article flow, and make sure our photos look sharp, so it’s gratifying to receive this award and see the thousands of hours editors and journalists have put in being recognized,” Co-Editor-in-Chief Celine Chien said.

“Every story is the product of a team working together. It’s a group effort, and I’m incredibly proud of how seriously everyone takes their role as a journalist,” journalism advisor John McBlair added.

The M-A Chronicle previously won the Online Pacemaker award in 2016 and 2021, and the NSPA named it a finalist in 2019 and 2024.

Once entered into the competition, a team of judges observes online publications regularly to assess the quality and consistency of the work published. Judges evaluate a variety of areas, including design, writing, and photography.

“Making a successful publication is difficult because it requires so many moving parts, but I think that we were really lucky this year to have so many devoted, smart, and incredible people who were willing to pour everything into the M-A Chronicle,” Chien said.
