The Bears missed the chance to go top of the league last Friday afternoon after tying to cross town rivals, Sequoia, 1-1.
The rivalry match saw opportunities for both sides but none were able to score throughout the first half. Sequoia opened the scoring in the 61st minute after blasting a shot past goalkeeper Ludbins Ponce.
Sophomore Nick Jandeleit got the Bears on the score sheet after an assist by Jake Simon in the 81st minute.
The Bears controlled most of the game but were not able to get a goal past Sequoia. Most of the second half was played on Sequoias half Junior Carlos Magandi concluded, “ We came in to the game knowing that it was going to be a tough match and we were able to keep possession around them for most of the game.
Unfortunately, we were not able to to finish our chances and it costed us the game.”
Junior Micah Shalowitz added, “I think we should have won the game. We were clearly the strongest side but I feel like we need more confidence in ourselves so that we can be in first place.”
The Bears are currently tied for second place with Sequoia with a 6-6-2 league record and need to win their next games in order to beat Aragon in first place.
