Leadership launched Rodeo Week, a spirit event that brought a taste of the Wild West to campus last week. Each day, students engaged in a variety of themed activities, from playing games on the Green, eating barbeque, and dressing up in a rodeo-themed spirit day.
Rodeo Week started on Tuesday as students gathered on the Green to enjoy country music and play cornhole and ring toss.
“My favorite part of the day was the cornhole,” senior Caroline Bergan said. “I love the music too!”
On Wednesday, students decorated their own cowboy hats with gems and markers. “I’m getting people to sign my hat,” sophomore Gabriella Peñaloza López said. “I feel like these events are great ways to meet people and bring the community together.”
On Thursday, Leadership prepared a special barbeque on the Green. Students bought corn on the cob, hot dogs, and burgers, each for $3. “The grill day was the best day of the week,” senior Sophia Schmitz said. “It brought juniors and seniors together, which was beneficial for all of us.”
Rodeo Week finished off on Feel Good Friday with a rodeo-themed spirit day. Students sported cowboy hats, flannels, boots, and denim while enjoying their extended lunch break with activities like a flea market and more games of cornhole.
It’s safe to say rodeo week was a success. This may be M-A’s first rodeo, but it’s likely not the last.
