As the seasons shift and the days grow longer, teachers are stepping up their style—opting for outfits that bring comfort, personality, and practicality. From playful colors to work-ready staples, their choices are perfect for easily moving through the day.

AP World and Ethnic Studies teacher Amira Sani’s style consists of basics and staple pieces that work in all kinds of weather. Sani rocks a Uniqlo white tee and navy pants from Rent the Runway, an outfit she picked because of the fall heat. “It was going to be really hot, so I wanted to wear clothes that were loose and breezy,” Sani said. Picking out her outfit each day is generally an easy task. “I like to dress for my mood,” she added.

AS English II and Latin teacher Alan Eaton branches out with funky pieces. “For me, getting dressed is an adventure,” Eaton said. Some days, his outfits consist of colorful accessories and different prints. “Other days, I just wear really comfortable workwear,” he said. Eaton is wearing big, baggy pants from FRAME, an oversized denim shirt from Wrangler, and a navy blue bandana to top it off. Eaton mainly pulls inspiration from popular punk rock bands, like The Ramones, or influential figures like painter David Hockney and poet Samuel Beckett. “Each [of them] in their own ways fires my sense of play to this day,” Eaton said.

Leadership teacher Mike Amoroso’s style consists of practical wear—outfits that are easy to throw on in the morning. Amoroso is wearing blue jeans from Wrangler. “I wear these jeans every day, they’re durable,” he said. In addition to a classic pair of jeans, Amoroso styles an M-A leadership shirt, and tone loc style sunglasses. “I represent M-A through my style,” Amoroso said.

Chemistry and Biotechnology teacher Rachel Richards’ closet mainly consists of clothes from Marshall’s. “I can pay the same amount and have two big shopping bags of good quality clothes versus buying three things from the mall,” Richards said. Richards is wearing a black polka dot top paired with a mid length black skirt, an outfit that is stylish and bubbly while accommodating for her active teaching style. As fall approaches, Richards is looking forward to cozy fall styles. “I can’t wait to wear sweaters, I really love fall,” Richards said.

Ceramics teacher Rika Hirata wears outfits that fit comfortably and suit the hands-on nature of her classes. Hirata wears her signature overalls from Duluth Trading Company paired with purple sneakers from Brooks. When working with ceramics all day, it’s difficult to stay completely clean. Between the clay, glaze, and dust, the work can get messy very quickly. “These [overalls] are actually farming overalls, and they’re great because if I get them dirty, they clean really easily,” she said.

Similar to Hirata, ceramics teacher Mike Burton-Tillson shows off a matching pair of overalls. These overalls, from a second hand store in Santa Cruz, have served Tillson for many years. “I wear the overalls because I work in a dirty environment, and [they] kind of act as a bit of a napkin,” Tillson said. Under the overalls, Tillson wears a variety of different clothing. “I can roll in on a hot day, in my shorts and my sandals or a cool day, in slippers and some comfortable pants,” he said. In addition to the overalls, his regular glasses, from Costco, are the perfect accessory.
