The Notes app is used for many different purposes that vary per student: some use it a lot, and others don’t even touch the Notes app on their phone, thinking of it as just a decoration on their screen.
Whether for small reminders and homework, or something totally different and unexpected like rap battles and dreams, students constantly find ways to use their Notes app creatively.

“I use it occasionally,” freshman Hayden James said. As an athlete who enjoys cooking and working out, James often uses his Notes app to save cooking and gym tips for later. “If I find a recipe that I like, or if I find a new workout routine that feels better and works, then I write that down in my Notes app,” he added.
Freshman Cyrus Massoudi also uses the app to track workouts. “Normally, when I’m at the gym, I’ll check my workout routine, or I’ll change the amount of rests for a workout for football and wrestling,” he said.
For James and Massoudi, both student-athletes, they find the Notes app beneficial for achieving their athletic-related goals.

Many students agree that the Notes app can be valuable and essential. Freshman Sophiann Lin uses the app frequently when she wants to make sure she remembers something.
“I write on my notes app when I have something important to remember—if I’m on my phone, I’m not gonna use Google Docs, so I just use the Notes app,” Lin said.
Lin explained how she and her friends use the Notes app for funny activities. “I had these roasts for my friend, because we were doing a roast competition,” she said. “So the most recent thing I have are roasts that we were doing with each other.”

“I use my notes app every day, hardcore—anytime I have an idea or something that I need to write down, it’s most likely in my Notes app,” junior Mackenzie Morales said. “If I have an idea for a photography or videography idea, I put it in there.” Morales loves the Notes app and finds it very crucial in her daily life. She uses the app mainly for schoolwork and outside-of-school work ideas.
Morales has a note that she has used all of her years so far at M-A. “My friend group has a really funny note—it’s a shared one of the days the fire alarm gets pulled at M-A,” she said. “Surprisingly, it hasn’t gone off this year, which is kind of impressive.”

Senior Owen Kaenel uses the Notes app when he feels like he needs to be discreet and quiet, but still wants to communicate with his friends. For example, when Kaenel is in public, but feels like it’s not the right time to say something, he types whatever he wants to say.
“I mainly use it if I need to tell someone something, but I don’t want someone else hearing. I’ll write it down on my notes app and I’ll show them like that,” he said.

Freshman Annabel Blanford has a unique use for the Notes app. She stores self-made rap songs from a summer camp activity in the app.
“I wrote a rap for my camp about everything at camp. I wrote that in my Notes app, and it’s really funny,” she said.
For Blanford, music always cheers her up and notably impacts her day-to-day life. She sings in a choir and has experience playing lead roles in many musicals. Her Notes app gives her a small window into her passion for music.

Sophomore Jose Henriquez uses the app to record his dreams. “I went to Chuck E. Cheese, I went to Toys R Us, I saw Lana Del Rey, I saw a raccoon fight,” he said, listing other dreams he had written down.
Students appreciate the Notes app for helping them get things done—from keeping track of homework assignments to writing down song lyrics.
