Seniors Celebrate Their Next Steps at Destination Day

Seniors across campus represented a variety of colleges for M-A’s annual Destination Day last Friday. While there are many events for seniors to commemorate their time at high school, Destination Day is a special time for all the seniors to celebrate their next steps.

There were many lunchtime activities for seniors to partake in across campus. On the Green, seniors huddled around tables crafting colorful flags for their college. Students took pictures with their friends, pinned their future location on a big map, and enjoyed each other’s company.

Away from the Green, the PAC Cafe was also a popular spot for Destination Day, where seniors were greeted by yellow and maroon balloons celebrating their time at M-A. Inside, seniors made #M-ADestinationDay posters and placed them on the wall, showing off the destinations they would go to next year. The PAC cafe also offered donuts, pizza, and other snacks to students who dropped by. Additionally, students had an opportunity to write thank-you cards to their chosen staff members and teachers.

Many seniors expressed enjoyment of the event. “It’s fun to watch everyone come together,” senior Emmett Hoffman, who committed to UCSD, said. “It’s fun because it’s giving us a taste of what these last few weeks are going to be like.”

Seniors also expressed the bittersweetness of the event. “It’s kinda crazy to think everybody won’t be out here again,” senior John Cutler, who committed to Occidental College, said.

With graduation a few weeks away, Destination Day served as the perfect bonding event for seniors to represent their college and celebrate their next steps beyond M-A.
