Seniors Bask in the Sun at Senior Picnic

As the class of 2025 approaches the finish line at the end of their high school journeys, they gathered on Coach Parks Field for Senior Picnic on Tuesday. The picnic gave the seniors a break from their past four years of various school and extracurricular work.

At the picnic, seniors participated in a variety of activities to bond as a class. Many seniors sat on blankets and talked amongst themselves. Others were busy chasing around the people on their yearbook “hit” list. Many also played volleyball, football and spikeball in the outfield.

Michael Amoroso, Maria Angelone, Kristen Bryan, and Teshionda Nickerson prepared snacks and hamburgers. Buckets filled to the brim with soft drinks and popsicles encased in ice sitting leisurely for the sun-kissed senior class to drink.

“I loved hanging out with people,” senior Rajit Ghosh said. “The picnic was a great way to connect with people for the last time now that we’re done with high school.”

Michael Amoroso and Leadership put together the event. “I was awake at 3:45 a.m. with Mr. Stewart, but we got it all set up by 9:30,” Amoroso said. “Watching all the seniors show up not just to eat the food, but socialize with teachers outside the classroom and sign yearbooks is my favorite part of this whole thing.”

Nickerson and her fellow Student Support Services staff—Kerry Laratt and Andrea Booth—oversaw the function as well.

“After four years of high school they do this week of celebrations and it brings the class together,” Nickerson said. “It’ll be one of the last times they’ll all be together and it’s a nice, chill way to relax and have fun.”

“I love watching everyone signing yearbooks and enjoying each other’s company,” Booth said. “I love seeing all the activities.”
