Mims Leads Football Team to Homecoming Victory

M-A prevailed over Aragon on homecoming night, beating the Dons 31-10. This puts the Bears on a three-game winning streak, after previous wins against Monterey and Sequoia.

Junior running back Jordan Mims led the team, scoring all four touchdowns of the night. Mims is known for his speed; he also competes in the 100, 200, and 400 meter races in track.

Mims’ first touchdown came at the end of the first quarter with a 68-yard run, bringing the game to 7-3 after Aragon’s field goal. M-A finished the half up at 10-10 after a field goal by senior Dylan Calderon.

With 1:39 remaining in the third quarter, speedy Mims scored again, running 51 yards to put M-A on top at 17-10. In the fourth, Mims ran the score up to 23-10, with a completed 25 yard pass from sophomore quarterback Miles Conrad. Finally, Mims ran 72 yards for his fourth touchdown of the night, thanks to a crucial block from senior captain Bryce Rodgers.

The team takes on rival Sacred Heart Prep at home next Friday.

Editor-in-Chief.
Hi! I'm Miranda Simes, and I'm a senior at M-A. This will be my third year on staff, and I’m excited to take on the role of editor as well as continue to inform the community.

Though journalism, I am eager to generate discussion with my peers about a diversity of topics. With its ability to question authority and give voice to the silenced, I consider journalism to be a truly powerful medium of expression.

I also enjoy representing M-A on the track and soccer teams, as well as hiking, finding new music, and baking in my spare time.
