Bears’ Favorite Music

1 min read

The school year has officially begun and students continue to stride through the hallways listening to their favorite songs. This week, I asked some students about their favorite songs, artists, and genres. These recommendations are definitely ones to add to your playlist.

Teagan

Junior Teagan Murphy describes her music taste as, “indie bedroom pop.” Murphy’s playlist consists of songs from Boygenius, Adrianne Lenker, and Searows. “I have a fall playlist with some songs I have liked for years and others I’ve just discovered. It’s really cool to make a blend of music from different times in my life.” Murphy can’t get enough of Clairo’s song “Harbor”, and said she’s had it on repeat for weeks.

Sabine

Leon Bridges, Alex G, and Fiona Apple are just a few of sophomore Sabine Polly’s favorite artists. Polly has a “Song of the Day” playlist that she adds a new song to each day. Some of her new additions include “Simulation Swarm” by Big Thief and “Sweet FA” by Peach Pit. “One of the best feelings is finding a brand new song that you can’t get enough of and just playing it over and over and over again,” she said. Polly also loves bonding over music with other people.

Nati

Funk and Spanish-rock are sophomore Nataly Flores’ favorite music genres. Flores has made countless memories listening to the band Los Temerarios, saying, “In the car on road trips, my dad and I always sing and vibe together, which brings us closer. It feels so heartwarming everytime I play a Los Temerarios song because it reminds me of him and all the good times in the car.” She also cannot get enough of the song “Loco (Tu Forma de Ser)” by Alberto and Roberto.

Ismael

Senior Ismael Zarate described his music taste as “everywhere.” He said, “I honestly like everything except for country music and I love opera.” He also loves popstar Nicki Minaj and Cheap Talk’s song, “Avalanche.”

Will

Junior Will Knox shared, “As a jazz band student I do listen to a good bit of jazz.” While jazz holds a special place in Knox’s heart, he also loves listening to funk and indie music. Though Knox can’t pick a favorite song, he has always admired Billy Joel.

Amari Witt is a sophomore at M-A and this is her first year in journalism. She has written many music stories and hopes to write more event stories. In her free time she likes to perform with M-A Drama and she loves being with her friends.
