Leadership hosted its annual back-to-school dance on the Green, featuring dazzling lights, colorful decorations, yummy food, face painting, and fun music on Friday night.
Neon Night has been an M-A tradition for many years, with freshmen making up the majority of this year’s attendees. “It’s fun, good music, and I love the environment here. Everyone’s super nice. It’s more than what I thought it would be,” said freshman Olivia Rogers.
Students at the dance enjoyed a variety of music. “It’s very nice and fun, and I think that everyone should come. Everything was perfect, but I wish that they played more Spanish music*,” said sophomore Diana Magaña.
“I think that Leadership did a really good job setting the dance areas up. All the activities and drinks were really well organized,” sophomore Atessa Gholamy said.
Leadership student and senior Zoe Fong helped plan the dance’s many activities. “The job I signed up for was face painting, which is one of my favorite jobs at our events,” she said. “We always have a bunch of patterns that you can choose from to get your face painted, or we can design something for you. It’s super fun, and it goes well with the theme of Neon Night because we have bright colors. So, even if people show up not wearing neon, we can do it for them.”
Fong compared this year’s dance to the ones in the past, saying, “I feel like this year’s dance is super spirited. Last year, it was called Summer Send-Off, but I’m really glad we brought Neon Night back because the decorations, music, and vibes were really good. I’m really proud of the way we put this event together.”
