Seniors Soak Up the Sun During Senior Picnic

The senior class gathered on the softball field to celebrate the end of their high school journey with the Senior Picnic on Tuesday. With games and food, the picnic gave seniors an opportunity to take a break from four years of hard work and enjoy their last week together.

The picnic included a variety of activities for students to participate in. Many sat on blankets to talk with their friends, while others played spikeball, cornhole, pickup football, and volleyball. Another group focused on chasing down friends for yearbook signatures.

“It’s really nice to see everyone come together and sign each other’s yearbooks and be so carefree, since school is about to end. To come here and talk to all the teachers and my friends, and people I haven’t spoken to for the last time,” senior Jovi Wong said.

Staff volunteers also helped prepare hamburgers, chips, snacks, buckets full of cold water, and soft drinks.

“The setup is actually amazing because the custodial staff and campus aides helped me the day before,” Leadership teacher Michael Amoroso said. “And the staff that are here wrapping all the burgers and putting cheese on the burgers, they are so helpful and the most amazing staff.”

“I love how [the seniors] have all come together to sit down and take a moment, take a break, a brain break, and just sit down and have one last memory with their class,” Amoroso added.

“It doesn’t really feel real yet. It hasn’t hit, but I know it will,” senior Cason Mitchell said. “I think [the picnic is] great because it brings everyone together, and there are not very many times where we all get to hang out together. We know we won’t see each other very much after this, which makes it so nice.”
