Bears Strut the Red Carpet at Met Gala Prom

Upperclassmen gathered at San Francisco City Hall to attend Leadership’s Met Gala Gilded Regency Prom last Friday night. The venue was fully decorated with colorful disco lights and a red carpet. Bears indulged in everything the event offered, including casino games, an assortment of crêpes, ice cream tacos, and a 360° video booth.

City Hall’s high ceilings and ornate features perfectly matched the elegance of this year’s theme. The dance floor was alive all night thanks to the DJ supplied by Pegleg Entertainment, who played a wide variety of genres including “La Chona” by Los Tucanes de Tijuana to “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars. Songs ranged from fast, exciting the crowd to calm where slow dancing took place. The flashing colorful lights added to the magical gala atmosphere.

“I really love the whole theme, and I think they really went all out, which is so special. The place is beautiful, and I’m having such a great time with everyone,” junior Lina Arizini said.

When not in the mosh pit, students were able to engage together by playing blackjack upstairs or sitting down to eat. At the crêpe bar, you could get any flavor, from savory with turkey and avocado to sweet with Nutella and strawberries. “The whole night has been so fun. When I’m taking a break from the dance floor, I can get a crêpe which is exciting,” sophomore Kate Saywell said.

“I really enjoyed the blackjack upstairs since it’s a good break from the dancing,” junior Daniel Matloub said.

As the night came to an end, Leadership announced the junior and senior Prom court. For the juniors, Isabel Habibi* and Molly Gray won. Tatiola Sobomehin* and Leslie Mandujano were the winners for the senior court.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect to win before I was told. It was my first Prom so it was really special to me that I got to win,” Mandujano said.

“We have been working on Prom throughout the entire school year, I think that all of the planning turned out great and really paid off,” senior Addy McCombs, one of the organizers of Prom, said. “I think that Prom was a great way to end my senior year event wise.”

The night in the city was a much needed escape from the stress of upcoming tests and the final weeks of school. With red carpets and long dresses, Prom 2025 was a night to remember.
