Leadership hosted their third annual Dawg Day with an endless supply of hot dogs and cornhole on Thursday. Students, dressed in flip-flops and “barbecue dad” looks, gathered in the G-Wing to participate in a variety of dog-related games and enjoy delicious barbecue.
A key part to the theme of the day is to show your “dogs” or feet, whether that’s through flip flops or sandals. “This is my day to meet and greet with everyone else’s toes,” freshman Lela Eaton said.

Dawg Day isn’t just an excuse to dress up like your dad at a barbeque with flip-flops or sandles— it celebrates M-A’s school spirit as students of all grades joined together on the blacktop for chips, three dollar hot dogs, gatorade, fun games, and dog-themed music such as the song, “Who Let the Dogs Out” by Baha Men.
The event marks the last traces of summer—also known as the “dog days.” “It’s something everyone can do, so it’s easy to participate,” freshman Noah Zamora said.

Dawg Day’s vibes were perfect to welcome the new school year, with warm weather and great hot dogs for not just students, but also M-A staff. “I love Dawg Day. It’s good vibes, good food, and the dogs are really, really good,” teacher Andrew Stuart said.
