Cappucho Owner Joe Witherspoon Talks Coffee Culture and Roasting on Film

Joe Witherspoon opened Cappucho Cafe and Coffee Roaster in Redwood City in October of last year. It has become well known for its ever changing hand drawn menu, seven minute pour-overs, and Witherspoon’s goal of having customers leave with a satisfying cup and conversation. It’s an invitation to slow down amidst life’s usual hustle.

The first portion of this video is an interview, which is largely based on a written piece on Witherspoon’s website titled Something Different, which details his desire for variance that sparked the idea for the cafe.

In the second portion of the video, Witherspoon takes M-A Chronicle staff Gabriella Jansen-Olliges behind the counter to roast coffee inside the cafe itself.
