Late-Night Bites: Bears’ Favorite Restaurants for Moonlit Cravings

1 min read

In the dead of night, M-A Bears awaken from hibernation to hunt for the best late-night bites. Whether it be after a football game, school dance, or any other function, M-A students can be seen storming any local establishments that dare to stay open late enough to satisfy their cravings.

One of students’ favorite places to eat is The Melt, located in Palo Alto’s Stanford Mall. The Melt offers a variety of American fast food but is most famous for their Melty Mac (and cheese), scrumptious french fries, and killer shakes. The Melt serves their warm and delicious food until 2 a.m. every night.

“It has a great atmosphere and the food is always great,” said senior Robert Kuhnen.

Another popular location for nighttime meals is the iconic chain restaurant In-N-Out. With a location roughly three miles away from M-A that stays open until 2 a.m., In-N-Out never fails to satisfy students’ moonlit cravings. Even at night, In-N-Out is always swarmed with customers who need a late-night snack.

“The food is so yummy,” said freshman Piper Rosenthal. “I get a cheeseburger and a fountain drink.”

For students looking for something closer to M-A, Mountain Mike’s, which resembles a traditional sports bar, serves pizza until 2 a.m. on the corner of El Camino and Menlo Ave. With a very vibrant and lively atmosphere, this is a place where M-A students can grab their friends and enjoy a pizza while watching one of the many broadcasted sports shows.

Another late-night favorite is West Menlo Park’s Dutch Goose. The family-owned restaurant and sports bar serves traditional American food. With large indoor and outdoor seating, the Goose is always filled with people from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Senior Braedan Grant said, “I like the vibe with all the lights and decorations—it’s a great late-night atmosphere. I usually order the steak sandwich or the brisket.”

“The Dutch Goose is my favorite place to eat at night because it has great food and atmosphere. I always get the burger and the fries,” said freshman Vesta Kassayan.

If you happen to find yourself craving a warm meal but think it’s too late, don’t worry! There are plenty of places nearby that offer a variety of scrumptious snacks to fulfill your late-night cravings.
